The investigation revealed that Tesfit, who had recently begun working as a rideshare driver, was shot while driving.
After being shot, he lost control of his vehicle, which veered off the road and crashed into the side of an empty house. Surveillance footage obtained by local news outlets showed Tesfit's car jumping the curb and colliding with the home around 1:40 a.m.
On February 28, 2024, Dallas Police arrested a 15-year-old male suspect in connection with Tesfit's death. The teenager was charged with capital murder; however, his identity has not been disclosed due to his age.
