On February 26, 2024, at approximately 3:38 a.m., the Austin Police Department (APD) received a report of a vehicle parked in a field near the 2900 block of South U.S. Highway 183 southbound, close to Metropolis Drive and McCall Lane in southeast Austin. Upon arrival, officers discovered a maroon sedan just off the main highway. Adjacent to the vehicle, they found 32-year-old Rigoberto Castro-Momner lying on the ground with apparent gunshot wounds.
