On the evening of February 27, 2024, at approximately 10:30 p.m., Harlingen police responded to reports of gunfire near the Arroyo Hike and Bike Trail close to McKelvey Park. Upon arrival, officers discovered the body of 19-year-old Jonathan Albert Trancoso, who had suffered a fatal gunshot wound.
