On March 24, 2024, at approximately 9:36 p.m., the Travis County Sheriff's Office responded to multiple 911 calls reporting a disturbance and gunfire near a bus stop at 9301 Hog Eye Road, within the Community First! Village in eastern Travis County, near Austin, Texas. Upon arrival, deputies discovered 61-year-old Duan Davis with multiple gunshot wounds. Despite immediate CPR efforts, Davis was pronounced dead at the scene.
Witnesses reported seeing two individuals fleeing the scene in a black SUV. Deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle matching the description nearby and detained 19-year-old Quentyn Ervin-Davis, the victim's son, along with an 18-year-old pregnant woman. Both had blood on their hands, which they claimed resulted from attempting to render aid to Davis after the shooting.
According to the arrest affidavit, earlier that evening, Quentyn and the woman had gone to Davis's residence to provide him with a ride to get food. An argument ensued over the use of a vehicle, during which Davis allegedly approached them with a broom. A physical altercation followed, culminating in Quentyn retrieving a handgun and shooting his father multiple times. Surveillance footage corroborated parts of this account, showing the confrontation escalating before the fatal shots were fired.
Quentyn Ervin-Davis was arrested and charged with murder. He was booked into the Travis County Jail, where he awaited further legal proceedings.
