On July 23, 2024, 17-year-old Kamarian Burgess was fatally shot in Fort Pierce, Florida. The incident occurred in the 1600 block of Avenue K, where Burgess was among a group of people gathered in the area. Around 7 PM, another group approached and began shooting at them. A Fort Pierce police tactical officer, who was nearby, responded swiftly to the gunshots, arriving at the scene within 30 seconds, even before a 911 call was made.
