On April 4, 2024, at approximately 7:05 p.m., 45-year-old Scypion Jamaal Goodin was fatally shot outside an apartment complex in the 9500 block of Royal Lane in Dallas, Texas. Emergency responders arrived promptly, but Goodin was pronounced dead at the scene.
In the course of their investigation, Dallas Police released surveillance images of three individuals—a woman and two men—seen in the vicinity around the time of the shooting, seeking public assistance in identifying them.
Subsequently, authorities arrested three suspects in connection with Goodin's death. On May 31, 2024, 30-year-old Jayrein Garrett was apprehended and charged with capital murder. Shortly thereafter, on June 3, 2024, 19-year-old Dezmon Looney and 22-year-old Jakylon Willingham were also arrested and charged with capital murder.
The motive behind the shooting has not been publicly disclosed, and the investigation remains ongoing. Authorities continue to encourage anyone with additional information to come forward to aid in the resolution of the case.
