On April 18, 2024, at approximately 4:15 a.m., Houston police responded to a call regarding an unresponsive individual near a walking trail at 7250 Bellfort Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered 38-year-old Jimmy Allan Goree, who had sustained at least one gunshot wound. Paramedics pronounced him deceased at the scene.
Witnesses reported observing a red, four-door Ford Probe departing the area shortly after the incident.
Despite this lead, authorities were initially unable to identify any suspects or determine a motive for the shooting.
In June 2024, investigators sought the public's assistance in locating 40-year-old Shakisha Jacquial Augustine, identified as a person of interest in the case. While not charged with any crime, Augustine was believed to possess information pertinent to the investigation. Authorities urged anyone with knowledge of her whereabouts to come forward.
As of December 2024, no arrests have been made in connection with Goree's death. The Houston Police Department continues to encourage individuals with relevant information to contact the HPD Homicide Division or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
