On June 9, 2024, at approximately 1:10 a.m., 25-year-old Houston resident Alberto Posada was fatally shot following a confrontation that began at a gas station located at 9700 Homestead Road. The incident escalated into a road rage situation, culminating in Posada's vehicle being pursued and fired upon as he arrived at Harris Health Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital.
Posada sustained at least one gunshot wound and was subsequently transported to another area hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries on June 11.
In the course of the investigation, Houston police identified five individuals described as Black males in their mid to late 20s as persons of interest. Surveillance images of these individuals and a white 2011-2012 Mazda CX-9 SUV associated with the incident were released to the public in an effort to gather more information.
On September 3, 2024, authorities named 26-year-old Treveon J. Walls as a person of interest in the case, seeking the public's assistance in locating him for questioning. Walls was not immediately charged at that time.
The investigation progressed, and on November 9, 2024, Walls was arrested for an unrelated incident. Subsequent inquiries linked him to Posada's death, leading to charges filed on November 13, 2024. Walls was charged with murder, two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and unlawful carrying of a weapon.
Authorities continue to seek information regarding the other individuals involved in the incident. The investigation remains active, with the Houston Police Department urging anyone with relevant information to come forward to aid in resolving the case.
