On the evening of November 3, 2024, 17-year-old Adolphus "AJ" McKenzie was fatally shot during a robbery outside his residence at the Evolve Champions Apartments on T.C. Jester Boulevard in northwest Harris County, Houston. Neighbors reported hearing gunshots around 9:30 p.m., followed by the sound of a vehicle speeding away. Upon arrival, Harris County Sheriff's deputies found McKenzie with multiple gunshot wounds; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
