On January 1, 2023, 33-year-old Jose Garcia Verduzco was fatally shot in Tulare, California, marking the city's first homicide of the year. Authorities discovered Verduzco in a vehicle near the 500 block of Pleasant Avenue, close to Garden Elementary School, around 9:30 p.m. He had sustained a gunshot wound and, despite receiving immediate medical attention at the scene, succumbed to his injuries.
