On January 21, 2023, 72-year-old Yu Lun "Andy" Kao was among the victims of a tragic mass shooting at the Star Ballroom Dance Studio in Monterey Park, California. Known as a contractor who sold materials for windows and gates, Kao had immigrated to the United States from Taiwan approximately two decades earlier with his older brother. He was unmarried and had no children, leaving behind his 75-year-old brother as his closest surviving relative.
