On the night of May 31, 2023, 18-year-old Billy Scott Jr., a senior at Grant Union High School in Sacramento, California, was fatally shot just hours before his scheduled graduation. Scott was in a car with two others in the North Highlands area when an individual approached and fired into the vehicle, striking him.
