On the night of August 6, 2023, a tragic incident unfolded at an Applebee's restaurant located at 32400 Date Palm Drive in Cathedral City, California. The altercation began around 11:30 p.m. when a fight broke out involving several individuals inside the establishment. During the confrontation, 31-year-old Cathedral City resident Ernesto Lazcano Arroyo was fatally shot. Emergency responders transported Arroyo to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
