Isaac Valles, a 27-year-old resident of Rancho Mirage, California, tragically lost his life on June 26, 2021, in Cathedral City. The incident occurred in the early hours of the morning, around 2:38 AM, when Cathedral City Police received a 911 call reporting a gunshot wound victim in the 31800 block of Neuma Drive. Upon arrival, officers found Valles lying in the roadway, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite the efforts of first responders, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Cathedral City Police Department, along with the Riverside County Sheriff's/Coroner's Office, quickly identified the victim as Isaac Valles.
The investigation revealed that the shooting was the result of a domestic dispute. Witness statements and crime scene evidence pointed to Jose Ernesto Martinez, a 29-year-old resident of Desert Hot Springs, as the primary suspect. Martinez was apprehended just hours after the incident in the 20600 block of Sky Valley Drive in Desert Hot Springs. He was arrested and booked into the Riverside County Jail on charges of homicide, with bail set at $1 million.
