On September 28, 2023, at approximately 12:45 a.m., Santa Ana Police responded to reports of a disturbance involving multiple individuals exhibiting gang-related behavior in the 1000 block of West Central Avenue. Additional reports indicated the sound of a gunshot in the vicinity. Upon arrival, officers discovered Edwin Medina, a 35-year-old resident of Santa Ana, lying on the ground with a gunshot wound to his upper torso.
