On the night of February 6, 2024, at approximately 10:56 p.m., Richmond police responded to a ShotSpotter activation in the 2300 block of Lancaster Drive. Upon arrival, officers discovered Myron Smith, a 50-year-old resident of Oakland, suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Tragically, Smith was pronounced dead at the scene, marking Richmond's second homicide of the year.
The circumstances leading to Smith's presence in Richmond remain unclear, and authorities have not disclosed any potential motives for the shooting. As of now, no arrests have been made, and the suspect or suspects involved are still at large. The Richmond Police Department's Homicide Detectives have taken over the investigation and are actively seeking information from the public to aid in solving this case.
