On March 28, 2024, at approximately 9:30 p.m., 17-year-old Jordan Malik Brady was fatally shot in Hallidie Plaza, adjacent to the Powell Street BART station in San Francisco. Officers from the San Francisco Police Department (SFPD) responded to the scene and found Brady suffering from gunshot wounds; he was pronounced dead on-site.
Brady, a resident of Alameda County, was remembered by his family as a "bright light" with an infectious laugh and kind heart.
A GoFundMe page established in his memory highlighted his unwavering love for his family and the profound loss felt by his passing.
In the days following the incident, the SFPD Homicide Detail conducted an investigation that led to the identification of two 16-year-old male suspects. On March 29, officers executed a search warrant at a building on Turk Street, resulting in the arrest of both juveniles. They were subsequently booked into the Juvenile Justice Center. Due to their ages, the identities of the suspects have not been publicly disclosed.
The arrests provided some measure of progress in the case; however, the investigation remains active. Authorities have urged anyone with additional information to contact the SFPD Tip Line at 415-575-4444 or to text a tip to TIP411, beginning the message with "SFPD."
Brady's death underscores the tragic impact of gun violence on youth and the community at large. As the legal process unfolds, his family and the San Francisco community continue to mourn the loss of a young life ended prematurely.
