On the evening of May 15, 2024, 17-year-old San Marcos resident Isaac Shekhayem was fatally shot while standing with a group in a parking lot at a business center on Los Vallecitos Boulevard. Around 11:30 p.m., a vehicle approached, and an individual exited, firing multiple rounds toward the group. Shekhayem sustained a gunshot wound to the upper torso.
