On September 10, 2024, 43-year-old Cornelius Casey Jr. of Lancaster, California, succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds. The Los Angeles County Coroner's Office classified his death as a homicide, with the formal pronouncement made at 1:21 p.m.

The incident occurred in the 700 block of East Avenue K in Lancaster, where Casey was found critically injured from gunfire. Despite being transported to a nearby hospital, he was later pronounced dead due to the severity of his injuries.
