On March 13, 2023, Catherine "Cathy" Merrell Palmer, aged 64, was found deceased alongside her husband, 73-year-old Sammie Ray Palmer, in their Powell, Tennessee home. The Knox County Sheriff's Office discovered their bodies during a welfare check at their residence on Chambord Way. Both individuals had sustained fatal gunshot wounds, leading investigators to suspect a murder-suicide incident.
