On August 17, 2023, Memphis police discovered the body of 60-year-old Anneria Turman in a wooded area near Silas Road and Eyers Road. She had been fatally shot in the back of the head.

Investigators learned that Turman resided with her boyfriend, 41-year-old Herman Hollins-Brown, and had custody of her 15-year-old grandson, Syquavius Hoyett.
