In the autumn of 2023, the life of 21-year-old Shalena McCall was tragically cut short in a burst of gunfire on a Madison, Tennessee street. On the evening of Monday, October 2nd, McCall was the front-seat passenger in a Nissan Altima, traveling with 22-year-old Taylor McEwen, when another sedan pulled alongside them and opened fire. The sudden and violent attack left McCall fatally wounded at the scene, while McEwen sustained injuries and was rushed to a nearby medical center for treatment.
The seemingly random act of violence sent shockwaves through the community and left a family grappling with an immense loss. Investigators from the Homicide Unit immediately began piecing together the events of that night, working to uncover a motive for the shooting. In the weeks that followed, their persistent efforts led to a significant breakthrough in the case.
The investigation culminated in the indictment of 18-year-old Joshua Polledo-Negrin on charges of first-degree murder for the death of Shalena McCall and attempted first-degree murder for the injuries sustained by Taylor McEwen.
