In the late summer of 2022, just days before she would have celebrated her 29th birthday, Trashai Siske was found dead in her Madison, Tennessee, apartment. The 28-year-old woman's life was cut short by multiple gunshot wounds. Her body was discovered by police officers who were conducting a welfare check at her Sealey Drive residence on the morning of September 1, 2022.
Prior to the discovery, a witness had reported hearing a heated argument followed by the sound of several gunshots, which prompted the call to the authorities.
The investigation into the violent death of the young mother quickly led homicide detectives to identify a suspect. Soon after the incident, an arrest warrant for criminal homicide was issued for 38-year-old Ricky Thomas Johnson. For months, Johnson remained a fugitive, successfully evading capture. Law enforcement agencies, including The Investigative Team Addressing Neighborhood Shootings actively worked to locate him.
In February 2023, Johnson's time on the run came to an end. Acting on information that he was driving into Nashville, detectives attempted to initiate a traffic stop. Johnson briefly pulled over before speeding away. Although detectives did not pursue, a Tennessee Highway Patrol helicopter was able to track his vehicle. After authorities successfully deployed a spike strip, Johnson lost control of his car and crashed into an embankment. He then fled on foot and attempted to hide in the backyard of a nearby home, where he was quickly apprehended with the assistance of a canine team. Following his capture, Johnson was jailed on charges of criminal homicide and evading arrest. He was later found guilty of first-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
