In the early morning hours of a Sunday in Madison, Tennessee, the life of 30-year-old Johnathan Welch was tragically cut short. Welch, a resident of Debbie Drive, had allegedly been involved in a physical altercation with a woman at a home on Meadow Bend Drive late the previous Saturday night.
He reportedly returned to the residence early the next morning, where another confrontation occurred, this time in the front yard with a man named Bradford Gardner.
According to accounts from witnesses at the scene, Welch was in the process of retreating to his vehicle when shots were fired. The wounds proved fatal, and Johnathan Welch died right there in the yard.
Following an investigation by Homicide Unit detectives, 29-year-old Bradford Gardner of 25th Avenue North was arrested and charged with criminal homicide in connection with the fatal shooting. Gardner, however, refused to be interviewed by the authorities regarding the incident. The investigation into the death of Johnathan Welch was led by Detective Chris Cote.
