As she was returning to the house, the night was shattered by gunfire.
Struck once in the abdomen, Phillips-Coker managed to run back into the house before she collapsed. Emergency services were called, and she was rushed to Skyline Medical Center for treatment. Metro Nashville police detectives began an immediate investigation into the shooting. Their work quickly led them to identify two suspects in the case: David A. Watkins and Christopher M.
