In a tragic turn of events, 24-year-old LaSteven Wilson, a male from Memphis, Tennessee, lost his life to gun violence on the evening of Thursday, November 2, 2023. The fatal incident unfolded in the Hickory Hill neighborhood of Memphis, where Wilson was one of three victims in a triple shooting.
The shooting occurred around 5:30 p.m. in the 6600 block of Crystal Hill Drive. When Memphis Police officers arrived at the scene, they discovered three men with gunshot wounds.
Two of the men, including Wilson, were pronounced dead at the location. A third victim was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
Initial investigations by the police suggested that the shooting was not a random act of violence. It is believed that the incident stemmed from a robbery and that the victims and the suspects were acquainted with each other.
For nearly two years, the case remained under investigation. A significant breakthrough came in August 2025, when a grand jury indicted 27-year-old Jalen Lamb in connection with the deadly shooting. Lamb was subsequently arrested on September 23, 2025. He is facing a series of eight charges, including second-degree murder, criminal attempt-first degree murder, especially aggravated kidnapping, and criminal attempt-especially aggravated robbery. Additional charges include convicted felon in possession of a firearm, employment of a firearm with intent to commit a felony, reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon, and reckless homicide. Following his arrest, Jalen Lamb was held in the Shelby County Jail without bond.
