An argument reportedly broke out in the parking lot among several people, tragically escalating to gunfire.

single gunshot. Surveillance footage from the apartment complex captured the chaotic moments that followed, showing several individuals running in panic and a black car speeding away from the scene. First responders arrived shortly after to a scene of confusion and sorrow. Jacques had been struck by the gunfire. He was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition, where he fought for his life for a day before succumbing to his injuries. His father, Jarvis Nelson, was by his side and recalled the heartbreaking moment his son opened his eyes one last time.
The young football player, who looked up to his cousin, NFL player Calvin Austin III, was remembered by his father as an outstanding athlete with a bright future ahead of him. The loss has left his family and the community devastated, prompting renewed calls to end gun violence. In the wake of the shooting, Jacques's father has pleaded with the public for anyone with information to come forward.
