On November 11, 2023, 15-year-old Jacques "Tank" Nelson, a freshman football player at Central High School in Memphis, Tennessee, was fatally shot in the Frayser neighborhood. The incident occurred at the Breezy Point Apartments, where Jacques was visiting with friends. Witnesses reported an argument preceding the shooting, during which a single gunshot was heard. Jacques was transported to Regional One Health in critical condition and succumbed to his injuries the following day.
