tragedy.
The key to the rapid progress in the case came from an unexpected source: the mother of the suspect. She contacted the Horn Lake Police Department in Mississippi to report that her son, 18-year-old Jadon Glasper, had confessed to shooting someone in Memphis. This courageous act of a mother turning in her own son proved to be the pivotal moment that unraveled the circumstances of Cross-Clay's death and led investigators directly to the crime scene and the alleged perpetrator.
Following his mother's report, Jadon Glasper was taken into custody in Horn Lake and subsequently questioned by investigators. During the interrogation, Glasper admitted to shooting Michael Cross-Clay. He claimed that he acted out of fear when Cross-Clay entered his room yelling and demanding to know the whereabouts of a gun. However, Glasper also acknowledged to the authorities that he was aware Cross-Clay was not armed at the time of the shooting.
As a result of his confession and the evidence gathered, Jadon Glasper was charged with second-degree murder in the death of Michael Cross-Clay. He was held on a $100,000 bond.
