In a tragic turn of events on a December evening in Memphis, Tennessee, a confrontation between two men over a shared connection to a woman and her child escalated into a fatal shooting. Terreon Monger, a 21-year-old male, was visiting his girlfriend at her residence on December 14, 2023, when they encountered her ex-boyfriend, Shamar Walls, who was with the child he shared with the woman.
An argument quickly erupted between Monger and Walls, which then escalated into a physical
altercation. During the fight, Walls allegedly produced a handgun and fired multiple shots at Monger, striking him in the chest. Following the shooting, Walls fled the scene. Emergency services were called, but Monger succumbed to his injuries.
Four days after the incident, police located and arrested 22-year-old Shamar Walls. He was subsequently charged with second-degree murder in connection with the shooting death of Terreon Monger. The mother of Walls's child identified him from a police lineup as the individual who had shot her boyfriend. Walls was booked into the Shelby County jail with his bond set at $250,000.
