In the winter of 2024, a young man's life was tragically cut short in what authorities believe was a robbery gone wrong. Emanuel Scott, a 21-year-old male, was fatally shot on February 25th at the Charter Village Apartments on Rio Vista Drive in Madison, Tennessee. The incident unfolded as an apparent robbery attempt, leading to the senseless violence that ended Scott's life. Both Scott and the individuals later accused of his murder were residents of the same apartment complex.
The investigation into the death of Emanuel Scott led authorities to two juvenile suspects. The first arrest was made when Specialized Investigations Division detectives took 15-year-old Jakari Pirtle into custody. Detectives were able to stop the vehicle Pirtle was in at the intersection of 11th Avenue North and Jo Johnston Avenue, where they also recovered two firearms. Shortly after, a second teenager, 16-year-old Raymond Alexander Harris, was apprehended at North 5th Street and Vernon Winfrey Avenue without incident. Both teenagers were charged with criminal homicide and are being held at a juvenile detention facility. Law enforcement has indicated that they are still seeking information regarding a potential third suspect who has yet to be identified.
