On a tragic evening in Madison, Tennessee, a young life was abruptly cut short. Israel Teniente Escaramuza, a 17-year-old male, was fatally shot on August 8, 2023. The incident occurred around 8 p.m. in a breezeway of the Falcon View Apartments on East Palestine Avenue. He was discovered with a gunshot wound and rushed to Skyline Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries.
At the time of the incident, Israel resided in Madison, approximately three miles from where the shooting took place.
Born in Villagran, Guanajuato, on August 7, 2006, Israel had just celebrated his 17th birthday the day before his death. He was remembered by his family as a beloved son, brother, and friend who was always smiling and happy. His loved ones recalled his love for singing, dancing, and making people laugh.
The investigation into the homicide led by Metro Nashville Police Department's Homicide Unit detectives resulted in the arrests of two individuals. On October 17, 2023, police arrested 18-year-old Arleth Bonilla, charging her with facilitation of criminal homicide. According to investigators, Bonilla, an acquaintance of both Teniente and the suspected shooter, allegedly lured Israel to the apartment complex.
A few weeks later, on November 1, 2023, homicide detectives charged 17-year-old Adinson Enrique Serrano-Juarez with the murder of Israel Teniente. The investigation points to Serrano-Juarez as the individual who fatally shot Teniente in the apartment breezeway.
