In the early hours of a Saturday in Lebanon, Tennessee, the life of 41-year-old Catara Latrice Yarbrough was tragically cut short. On May 18, 2024, at The Ridge Apartments on Fairview Avenue, Yarbrough was shot multiple times. Responding to a call about shots fired, Lebanon Police discovered the grim scene. Yarbrough was a mother of four who was remembered by her family for her bright smile and loving nature. She had earned a bachelor's degree in sociology from Lane College and was reportedly working towards obtaining her Tennessee insurance license.
Neighbors reported hearing arguing and banging from the apartment on previous occasions, hinting at a troubled domestic environment. In the aftermath of the shooting, a search was initiated for her 42-year-old husband, Steve Yarbrough. He was quickly identified as the suspect and was considered armed and dangerous. Police issued a notice for his 1998 green Dodge pickup truck, which was later found in Hickman County.
Later that same day, Steve Yarbrough peacefully turned himself in to the Lebanon Police Department. He was subsequently charged with criminal homicide in connection with his wife's death.
