In the summer of 2024, the life of 41-year-old Aslam Christopher “Oz” Wilson was tragically cut short in a motel room in Brownsville, Tennessee. A man known for his outgoing and loving personality, Wilson was an ironworker from Leakesville who was in town for a job. He was a husband and a father figure to three children.
On the afternoon of Friday, June 28th, police responded to a shooting at a motel on West Main Street. There they found Wilson suffering from a single gunshot wound.
He was transported to the Regional Medical Center in Shelby County for treatment. Despite medical efforts, Aslam Wilson succumbed to his injury in the early morning hours of June 29, 2024.
The investigation quickly focused on Wilson's roommate and fellow ironworker, Justice Clyde Morgan. According to Wilson's wife, the two had been rooming together since May, but their friendship had soured, and they were planning to go their separate ways. Following the shooting, authorities began a search for Morgan, who had fled the scene.
Justice Clyde Morgan, a man with a prior criminal record, was apprehended and taken into custody. He was booked into the Itawamba County Jail. Wilson's family expressed their profound grief and anger over the senseless act of violence that took their loved one's life. His wife lamented that they were supposed to grow old together, and now she was faced with the devastating reality of his absence.
