Jeffery Pickens, a 45-year-old Black man, was found early Sunday morning, July 30, 2017, lying unconscious on the steps of a residence in the 500 block of Dove Street in Brownsville, Tennessee. Police treated the scene as a homicide after he was discovered with a gunshot wound and pronounced dead there, while investigators worked to determine where he had been shot and how many times.
