On July 22, 2024, James Redmon, a 65-year-old security guard, was fatally shot while on duty at Main Event, a family entertainment center located on Appling Farms Parkway in Memphis, Tennessee. The incident occurred around 7:15 p.m. when an argument erupted between Redmon and his colleague, 44-year-old Richard Lewis, concerning the use of metal detectors for patrons entering the establishment.
