On September 12, 2021, Memphis police responded to a 911 call from Andre Jones, who reported discovering the bodies of his father, Ronald Jones, a 53-year-old African American man, and his grandmother, 73-year-old Martha Jones, in their home on Amarillo Street near Cherokee Park. Both victims had suffered multiple gunshot wounds and were pronounced dead at the scene.
