Jaleel Marquise Turner, a 27-year-old male, was fatally shot on the afternoon of October 13, 2024, in his Murfreesboro, Tennessee, apartment. The incident occurred at The Southern – Apartment Homes on Lascassas Pike, where Turner resided with his live-in girlfriend, 22-year-old Shaquira Brown.
According to preliminary investigations, an argument between Turner and Brown escalated, culminating in Brown allegedly shooting Turner once inside their shared residence.
Shortly after 2:00 p.m., a neighbor reported hearing a gunshot, prompting a police response. Upon arrival, officers discovered Turner on the floor with a single gunshot wound to the abdomen; he was unresponsive. Brown was also present at the scene and was taken into questioning.
Emergency medical services transported Turner to Vanderbilt University Hospital in Nashville, where he was pronounced dead. Following their initial investigation, the Murfreesboro Police Department's Criminal Investigations Division arrested Brown.
Brown has been charged with second-degree homicide and was booked into the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center. Her bond was set at $750,000. Court proceedings have been ongoing, with a hearing scheduled in Rutherford County General Sessions Court. The case is expected to be reviewed by a grand jury to determine if there is enough evidence for the charges to proceed.
