On January 28, 2023, at approximately 9:20 a.m., Philadelphia Police responded to reports of a shooting on West Godfrey Avenue in the Olney neighborhood. Upon arrival, officers discovered 62-year-old Larry D. Scott with a gunshot wound to the head. He was immediately transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Earlier that morning, another fatal shooting occurred near a shopping plaza on the 5700 block of Rising Sun Avenue in the Lawncrest neighborhood.
A 23-year-old man, identified as Maison Hernandez, was found with a gunshot wound to the back of the head and was pronounced dead at the scene.
As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with either shooting. The Philadelphia Police Department continues to investigate these incidents and urges anyone with information to come forward.
