On the evening of March 4, 2023, a violent encounter in West Philadelphia claimed the life of 24-year-old Marquan Fox. The Black male was inside a gray Hyundai with two other people on the 6000 block of Sansom Street at approximately 8:30 p.m. when another vehicle, described as white, pulled alongside them. Occupants of the white car then opened fire into the passenger side of the Hyundai.
The gunfire struck both Fox and 34-year-old Terrell White multiple times.
Philadelphia Police officers responded to the scene and rushed both men to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center. White was pronounced dead shortly after 9:00 p.m., and Fox succumbed to his injuries about half an hour later. A third individual in the Hyundai was not reported to have been injured.
Following the shooting, the white vehicle was seen fleeing eastbound on Sansom Street. Despite the ongoing investigation by the Philadelphia Police Department, no arrests have been made in connection with the double homicide. Authorities have not publicly identified any suspects in the case and continue to appeal to the public for any information that might lead to a breakthrough in the investigation. The case remains a stark reminder of the gun violence that plagues the city.
