On March 25, 2023, 46-year-old Damion G. "Day Day" Nance was fatally shot in Pittsburgh's Homewood neighborhood. The incident occurred just before midnight near the intersection of Frankstown and Brushton avenues, outside Denise & Earl's bar. Another victim, 47-year-old Janell "Nelly" Ross, also lost her life in the same shooting.
