Nevaughn Beasley, a 50-year-old White/Caucasian male from West Philadelphia, was killed on April 8, 2023, after what police described as a neighborhood dispute over parking turned into a deadly shooting. The confrontation unfolded around 1 p.m. on the 1400 block of North 54th Street in Philadelphia, where Beasley was attempting to park his red SUV near his home.
What began as an argument between neighbors quickly escalated in the middle of the afternoon on a residential block.
According to police accounts reported by local news outlets, Rasheed Morrison, who lived on the same block, approached Beasley’s driver-side window as Beasley was parking. The two exchanged words, and Beasley got out of his vehicle as the argument continued. Investigators said Morrison then used his own vehicle to reverse into the front bumper of Beasley’s SUV, turning the dispute from a verbal confrontation into a physical one.
The fight continued outside the vehicles. Police said the struggle ended with Beasley falling to the ground. At that point, Morrison allegedly stood over him, produced a firearm, and fired one shot into Beasley’s chest. Officers arrived within minutes and found Beasley wounded. He was transported to Lankenau Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 1:14 p.m.
Morrison was taken into custody at the scene. Police also recovered the weapon. He was identified by authorities as the suspect and was charged with murder, criminal conspiracy, weapons offenses, and related charges. The available online reporting described the shooting as the result of a dispute between neighbors and did not report any additional suspects.
