On the evening of June 9, 2023, 38-year-old Thomas "Tom" Dooner was fatally shot in Philadelphia's Tacony neighborhood. At approximately 8:36 p.m., police responded to reports of a shooting on the 7100 block of Jackson Street, where they found Dooner lying in the street with multiple gunshot wounds to his torso. Officers immediately transported him to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital, but he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
The incident reportedly began with an argument between a 31-year-old male suspect and a woman inside a residence on Jackson Street. The disagreement escalated, involving other household members, leading the suspect to make threats against everyone present before leaving the premises. Shortly thereafter, the suspect returned and encountered Dooner, the woman's father, outside the home. The confrontation culminated with the suspect shooting Dooner three times in the torso before fleeing the scene in an SUV, last seen heading south on Roosevelt Boulevard.
Philadelphia Police have identified the suspect and issued a warrant for his arrest. As of the latest available information, no arrest has been reported, and the case remains under investigation.
