In the summer of 2023, the life of 44-year-old Daryl Vincent Lee Jr., a hardworking man from Johnstown, Pennsylvania, came to a tragic and violent end. Known for his love of boxing, working out, and the Pittsburgh Steelers, Lee was a spiritual man who ran his own landscaping business. His body was discovered in the early morning hours of July 14, 2023, along State Route 403 in East Wheatfield Township, near the border of Indiana and Cambria counties.
An autopsy would later reveal that he had died from a gunshot wound, and his death was officially ruled a homicide.
The investigation into Lee's death quickly led authorities to two individuals from Johnstown: 41-year-old Justin Green and his 30-year-old girlfriend, Brooke Pullin. It was discovered that Lee, who did not own a car, had been working with and getting rides from Green, who was a fellow landscaper and neighbor. Police believe that on July 13, while in Green's pickup truck, Lee was shot and killed in Johnstown. Investigators allege that after the shooting, Green and Pullin drove the truck, with Lee's body inside, and left his remains on the side of the road in Indiana County. It is also believed that the couple's one-year-old child may have been with them during this time.
Following the discovery of Lee's body, Green and Pullin were taken into custody. A search of Green's vehicle uncovered significant evidence, including shell casings and the victim's bank card. A key piece of evidence that helped lead to their arrest was a multi-colored hair found on Lee's body, which was later identified as belonging to Pullin. Justin Green was charged with a number of serious offenses, including criminal homicide, robbery, abuse of a corpse, and tampering with physical evidence. Brooke Pullin faced charges of abuse of a corpse, tampering with physical evidence, and receiving stolen property. After their arrest, their child was placed in the care of Cambria County Children and Youth Services. The couple was then incarcerated in the Cambria County Prison.
