In the summer of 2023, a day in Reading, Pennsylvania, was shattered by violence that claimed the life of a 44-year-old man. On the afternoon of July 21st, near the intersection of South 6th and Cherry Streets, Ellis Garman Sr. was discovered in his vehicle, suffering from a gunshot wound. The male victim was rushed to Reading Hospital for emergency medical attention.
Despite the efforts of medical professionals, Garman succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
The incident prompted an immediate investigation by the Reading Police Department. In the hours that followed, investigators worked to piece together the events that led to the fatal shooting.
Through their investigation, police identified a suspect in the shooting. A warrant was subsequently issued for the arrest of Vincent Sanchez in connection with the homicide of Ellis Garman Sr. That same evening, around 10:30 p.m., the Reading Police and the Berks County Emergency Response Team executed a search warrant at a residence on the 100 block of South 8th Street in an attempt to apprehend Sanchez. However, after a thorough search of the home, the suspect was not found. The investigation into the death of Ellis Garman Sr. remains ongoing.
