In the late hours of a Thursday in Philadelphia, tragedy befell 26-year-old Bassil Bertrand McClendon. On August 3, 2023, on the 5800 block of Rising Sun Avenue, the sound of gunfire shattered the night, leaving a young man's life hanging in the balance. When police responded to the reports just before 11:30 p.m., they discovered McClendon lying on the sidewalk, grievously wounded.
