On January 31, 2023, at approximately 11:46 p.m., Philadelphia Police officers responded to reports of a person with a gun on the 2600 block of North 13th Street. Upon arrival, they discovered 36-year-old Samuel Rosario-Gonzalez lying in the street, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, particularly to his abdomen. Emergency medical personnel transported him to Temple University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after midnight on February 1, 2023.
Following an extensive investigation, authorities identified 24-year-old Amir Studevan as the primary suspect in Rosario-Gonzalez's murder. Studevan had fled Philadelphia and was located hiding in Puerto Rico. On June 12, 2024, law enforcement officials apprehended Studevan in Puerto Rico. He was subsequently extradited to Philadelphia, where he faced charges including murder, violation of the uniform firearms act—no license, possession of an instrument of crime, and other related offenses.
As of the latest available information, Studevan remains in custody without bail, awaiting trial for the charges against him.
