On September 22, 2024, 16-year-old William Erik Honesty II was found deceased on the grounds of Martin Luther King High School in Philadelphia's East Germantown neighborhood. A passerby discovered his body around 11:45 p.m. and alerted authorities. Responding officers found Honesty suffering from three gunshot wounds to the chest; he was pronounced dead at the scene shortly thereafter.
