In the late afternoon of Wednesday, August 9, 2023, tragedy struck on the 2600 block of West Arizona Street in Philadelphia. Wallace Weaver, a 74-year-old Black male, was inside a residence when gunfire erupted. Philadelphia Police officers responded to the scene at 4:53 p.m. and discovered Weaver. They rushed him to Temple University Hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.
A second victim, a 31-year-old Black male, was found in the street with a gunshot wound
to his ear. He was also transported to Temple University Hospital and was listed in stable condition. The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain unclear, and the death of Wallace Weaver is being investigated as a homicide.
As of now, the case remains an unsolved murder. The Philadelphia Police Department is urging anyone with information to come forward to assist in the investigation. No suspects have been publicly identified, and no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting. Detectives are seeking tips from the community to bring those responsible for Wallace Weaver's death to justice.
