In the late afternoon of Wednesday, August 9, 2023, tragedy struck on the 2600 block of West Arizona Street in Philadelphia. Wallace Weaver, a 74-year-old Black male, was inside a residence when gunfire erupted. Philadelphia Police officers responded to the scene at 4:53 p.m. and discovered Weaver. They rushed him to Temple University Hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.
