In a tragic turn of events on September 24, 2023, 53-year-old Adam Deshong and his 74-year-old mother, Wanda Deshong, were found deceased in Collegeville, Pennsylvania. The discovery was made after Adam's younger brother, Aaron Deshong, then 49, contacted the FBI National Threat Operation Center and stated he might have harmed his family members. He reportedly made this call because he did not trust the local police.
Pennsylvania State Police were dispatched to the home on Gravel Pike in
Perkiomen Township around 5 p.m. Upon arrival, they found Aaron Deshong on the phone with the FBI in the garage of the residence he shared with his mother, and he was taken into custody. Inside the home, troopers discovered the bodies of Adam and Wanda Deshong on the kitchen floor. Both had sustained gunshot wounds. An autopsy would later confirm that Adam Deshong died from multiple gunshot wounds, while his mother died from a single gunshot to the head; both deaths were ruled homicides.
During the investigation, authorities found a Smith & Wesson. 38-caliber revolver in a closet in the basement. The firearm, which was registered to Aaron Deshong, contained four spent shell casings and two live rounds. In his call with the FBI dispatcher, Aaron allegedly mentioned he had been 'on edge' since his father's death and stated that he owned two shotguns, two rifles, and a pistol.
Following the incident, Aaron Deshong was charged with two counts of first-degree murder and other related offenses. He was taken to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility, where he is being held without bail. Adam Deshong, who resided in Devon, Chester County, was remembered as a caring and compassionate man who worked as a manager for Boeing and held degrees from Pennsylvania State University, Stanford University, and Johns Hopkins University. He was survived by his wife and two children.
