In the early morning hours of October 4, 2023, the streets of Pittsburgh's Hill District were shattered by the sound of gunfire. When police responded to a 16-round ShotSpotter alert on the 2300 block of Webster Avenue at approximately 3 a.m., they discovered a grim scene. Thirty-three-year-old Robert Lee Freeman Jr., a male resident of Pittsburgh, was found lying in the street at the intersection of Somers Street and Webster Avenue, having been shot in the head.
